On February, 19th the main stage of the album creation was completed. Several months of moral and technical preparation, a week of intensive rehearsals and four hard days of recording - this is only the beginning of creative process. There is in future also work over the combining, photo session and printing. There are eight compositions included in the first album of the project. The author of one of them is a member of the group, drummer and percussionist Dave Grout. This piece is “Tres Hermanos” (Three Brothers) which was dedicated to López brothers. Four pieces: Imarbys II, Varadero Beach, Baikal and Cachaito Forever, which are also included in the album, have been composed by the contrabass player Abelardo Alfonso López. Cachaito Forever is dedicated to the memory of the great cuban contrabass performer, Abelardo's first teacher and uncle, Orlando Cachaito López. Finally, there are three more themes included in the album: Socios, Festival and Momentos were composed by the band leader, pianist, composer and arranger Pedro Alexander Alfonso López. In the recording also took part Alexandr Sokolovksy (trumpet and flicorno), Boris Anisimov (flute and alt-flute) and Dmitry Chuvelev (guitar). The recording was made in Dmitry Chuvelev's "Secret Studio" on February, 16-19. The release and presentation of the album are planned in the summer of 2010. Photos here |
